It’s Been Awhile

August 25, 2008

Yes, it’s been awhile since the last post, so here’s what has been going on.

The Seven Hills Movie Night was awesome! Thanks to everyone who came out and a really big thanks to everyone who helped put things together.

For those who are wondering why the podcasts haven’t been updated lately, we’ve been focusing our efforts on Sunday mornings on getting ready for the public launch of Four Points Church. This means lots of team meetings, brainstorming, learning how to setup and tear down new equipment, etc. This is also why posts here have been somewhat sporadic.

’til next time,

Sunday Summary: August 10, 2008

August 10, 2008

Jason LeFevers led us in worship this morning. The set list was Give You Glory, O Praise Him, Glorious One and a Four Points original, Creation’s Cry. Click here to sample or buy these songs in iTunes. Creation’s Cry isn’t there yet. Gotta get that one copyrighted first.

No podcast this week. Brent just got back from the Church of God General Assembly, so instead of a sermon he shared a few other things with us. First was a teaser for the series he will begin next Sunday entitled Wonder. Afterwards, he shared a few important announcements and then we broke up into small groups and discussed a few pertinent things since the next month will be extremely busy at Four Points.

Brent continued his series on Prayer. Today he spoke about some of the responses we get from God and what if those responses include “no”. To download the podcast click here.

Sunday Summary: July 27, 2008

July 28, 2008

This week’s summary is gonna be a little short. Just now publishing the iMixes, so I’ll add those when Apple emails me.

Dan and the boys opened up with Come Together by The Beatles. They then led us in worship with Everlasting God, Shine and We Are Yours.

Brent continued where we left off two weeks ago with Prayer. This week he taught on the elements of prayer that will cause God to “bend His ear towards us”. Click click here to download or listen to the podcast.

After Brent’s message, the band led us in Jesus Paid It All and We Shine.
Great service guys!

Sunday Summary: July 20, 2008

July 20, 2008

Today was Service Project Sunday (thanks to everyone who showed up and helped!), so we had an abbreviated service this morning (i.e. Brent didn’t preach). The band opted for a stripped down approach, so we went with just two vocalists, acoustic guitar and bass. Here’s their set list:

Gloria by Ex Nihilo (Mars Hill Church)

Marvelous Light by Charlie Hall

Shine by Matt Redman

Worlds Apart by Jars of Clay

If you want to sample or purchase any of these songs, click here. And for those who would like to hear the actual live worship set from this morning, click here.

As always, if you want to sample or purchase any of the songs from the pre/post-service playlist, click here.

Service Project Sunday!

July 15, 2008

Are you on your way to ministry, or ministering on your way?

At Four Points Church, we never want to be known as people who talk a big game but don’t back it up. So, this Sunday after service, we will be tackling the first of many service projects. For the next fifty weeks we will be meeting at Pickett’s Mill Elementary School, and it is not cheap. However, Pickett’s Mill will see very little of our rental fees; the majority of that money is dispersed throughout the Cobb County School System. Instead of acting like, “We paid for this space, so you should bow to us!”, we want to serve the faculty, staff, students and parents of Pickett’s Mill. After service Sunday morning, we will be performing a few minor groundskeeping tasks at the school. And while it doesn’t sound like much, it will save them time and money that they can invest elsewhere.

So come out Sunday morning at 10:00 am (wear work clothes), worship Jesus, listen to a great, insightful message and then join us in serving.

See you Sunday!

Sunday Summary: 7|6|8

July 6, 2008

Here we go with the weekly Sunday Summary!

I’m typing this at Starbucks because Comcast is “upgrading our firmware and will be back online shortly”.

Yeah, right. I’ve been reading that all afternoon.

I digress.

Today was our first Sunday at our new location (Pickett’s Mill Elementary School). Jason LeFevers led us in worship this morning and did an awesome job.

Sing, Sing, Sing (Chris Tomlin)

Give You Glory (Jeremy Camp)

Beautiful Jesus (Kristian Stanfill)

This Is Our God (Chris Tomlin)

God of This City (Chris Tomlin)

To hear samples or purchase songs in iTunes click here.

This week’s message came from Dan Friesen and was titled One Jacked Up Church. Dan talked about how there are a lot of people saying “if only we did things like the early church, we’d be so much better off”. Of course, as Dan points out, the early church had their own problems, not unlike the twenty-first century church. To download this week’s podcast click here.

Last, but not least, if you want to hear samples of or purchase the songs we played before and after service and during the Take5, click here.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Goodbye Mount Paran……

June 29, 2008

This morning we held our final service at Mount Paran Christian School. Beginning next Sunday morning we will be meeting at the Picketts Mill Elementary School in Acworth. With that said, on with the Sunday Summary!

This week the band’s set included Everybody Praise the Lord, We Shine, Center, Our God Reigns and Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone). To listen to samples of these songs click here.

To listen to song samples from the pre-service, Take5 and post-service playlist, click here.

Brent took a little detour from Vintage Jesus this morning and spoke to everyone about the move to the new facility and the cost of launching Four Points Church at Picketts Mill. He then spoke on what God has called us as Four Points Church to do in this generation; a new movement for a new generation. Not that we will ignore or abolish what previous generations have accomplished; instead, we build off the foundation established by Jesus and passed down for 2,000 years.
